Grateful for Netlify
It has been a while since I posted on this blog. 2022 has been a very busy year to say the least (work, family, health, a bunch of things happened - thankfully all is good now).
I wanted to take this time to express my gratitude for Netlify's robust build/deploy infrastructure. While I did receive email notifications that the Linux distribution I was using to build my static-site was deprecated, I am grateful that they gave me a fairly straightforward solution to upgrading it. It was not a one-click button to fix the issue, but I had to use this wonderful npm packageto fix the issue. It was only a couple of minutes work, and a re-issue of the Git gateway token in Netlify site settings, and looks like I am off to the races.
Given that Twitter has become not a pleasant place after Elon Musk took over, and the rise of Mastodon and federated services, there is a renewed push to owning our content and using native web technologies (including RSS) to create and consume content. I liked this article by Chris Coyier highlighting the importance of owning our content.
